Length Of Shyok River

The Shyok River, a 550 km long tributary of the Indus River, travels through northern Ladakh before entering Gilgit-Baltistan (340 mi).

Origen Of Shyok River

One of the Shyok River streams of Siachen Glacier, the Rimo Glacier, is the source of the Shyok River. Its alignment is odd; it begins at the Rimo glacier and flows southeast after turning northwest and continuing a path parallel to its initial one as it joins the Pangong range. The Zanskar Valley swells at the Nubra River's junction before closing near Yagulung. It then passes through Bogdang, Turtuk, then Tyakshi before entering the Baltistan Of Pakistan. The Saltoro River junction at Ghursay Ghanche Baltistan, Pakistan, is where the valley once more expands. East of the city of Skardu, in Keris, the river merges with the Indus near the Hamayun Bridge of Baltistan.

The Siachen glacier's Nubra River exhibits similar characteristics to the Shyok. The Nubra, which flows southeast when it reaches the Shyok, turns northwest before it inter Diskit. The similarities in the courses of these two significant rivers suggest that the upper class of the rivers has defined by a network of Paleolithic fault lines that trended northwest-southeast.
